Find Worcester County Jail Mugshots

Worcester County jail mugshots and inmate records are managed by the Worcester County Sheriff's Office at its facility in West Boylston. This is the second most populous county in Massachusetts. Unlike some other counties, Worcester has an online inmate search portal where you can look up current detainees by name or ID number. The sheriff's office also handles public records requests for booking photos and arrest data. You can search for jail mugshots through the online tool, by phone, by mail, or in person at the records division. Court records from Worcester County Superior and District Courts provide another path to arrest and case data.

Worcester County Jail Mugshot Records

Worcester County inmate records contain a lot of detail. The booking record includes the person's full legal name and any aliases, date of birth, gender, race, height, weight, and physical description. The booking photograph is part of this record. Fingerprints, an assigned inmate ID number, and the date and time of admission are all logged. The arresting agency, current charges, bond or bail amount, court of jurisdiction, and scheduled court dates are noted. For sentenced inmates, the record also shows the sentence length and expected release date.

Not all of this is open to the public. Medical and mental health records are confidential. Disciplinary reports stay internal. Program participation details and security classification documents are restricted too. Under MGL c. 4, § 7(26), records that could compromise safety or endanger someone are exempt from public records law. Social security numbers are never released.

Note: Worcester County does not participate in the VINE notification system, so you cannot use VINELink to track inmates held at the county jail.

Programs at Worcester County Jail

The Worcester County jail offers several programs aimed at reducing recidivism. Educational programs help inmates earn GEDs and build basic skills. The Substance Abuse Treatment Opportunity Program, known as S.T.O.P., provides treatment for inmates dealing with addiction. This is a structured program that runs during the full term of incarceration. Reentry and reintegration programs help prepare people for life after release. The Community Justice Support Center connects former inmates with services in the Worcester area.

These programs affect the day-to-day lives of inmates but are not part of the public record. You cannot get details about someone's program participation through a records request. That information stays confidential under state law.

Sealing Arrest Records in Worcester County

People with arrest records in Worcester County can apply to seal them under MGL c. 276, §§ 100A and 100C. The wait times are clear. Misdemeanor records need 5 years from the conviction or release date. Felonies need 10 years. Level 1 sex offender records require 15 years. Level 2 and 3 sex offenders cannot seal their records at all. Sealed records do not show up in standard CORI searches, and jail mugshots tied to those records become restricted.

Expungement is a step beyond sealing. It means the record is permanently destroyed. Massachusetts offers expungement for some qualifying cases. Both sealing and expungement require court approval. The CORI law page on mass.gov has links to forms and instructions for starting either process. Court records from Worcester County that have been sealed will not appear in online or in-person searches.

If someone was moved from the Worcester County jail to a state prison, you can search for them through the Massachusetts DOC inmate search page. State prisons hold people with sentences over two and a half years. The VINE system covers all state DOC facilities, so once an inmate is transferred out of the county jail, VINE can track their status.

The Massachusetts DOC runs 16 prison facilities, including North Central Correctional Institution in Gardner, which is within Worcester County. Contact the DOC Records Access Officer at (508) 422-3300 or email doc.rao@state.ma.us for state prison records. The criminal records topic page on mass.gov ties together all the state tools for searching arrest and conviction records across Massachusetts.

Note: The online inmate search at inmatesearch.wcsoma.org only shows people currently in custody at the Worcester County jail, not those who have been released or transferred.
